Work Packages

CROWDCUL distinguishes three research work packages (WPs). Each is managed by a senior researcher who has the prime responsibility for its activities.

Analysis of the determinants of crowdfunding adoption by artists

WP leader: Assoc. Prof. Rotem Shneor

This WP will address the first research question and identify what influences the artists’ adoption of crowdfunding as a channel for fundraising their cultural production.


Analysis of short- and long-term effects of crowdfunding on artists

WP leader: Prof. Natalia Mæhle

This WP will address the second research question and study how successful crowdfunding experiences influence artists’ long-term economy, reputation and aesthetic practices.


Analysis of implications of crowdfunding at a sector level

WP leader: Assoc. Prof. Daniel Nordgård

This WP will address the third research question and explore the implications of crowdfunding usage by artists at a sector level focusing on both existing traditional funding mechanisms and artists’ aesthetic practices in general.
